Emirates A380 Largest Aircraft

Emirates A380 Largest Aircraft At Pearson Airport

TORONTO, CNW - Monday was a very 'big day'  for Toronto Pearson. In this case, 'big' translates to the largest passenger aircraft ever built. At 3:45 p.m. Emirates Airline made history when the 486 passenger, double-Decker A380 aircraft touched down at Toronto Pearson for the first time.

In first class, the $500 million aircraft (about $1-million per passenger) features 14 private suites with seats that convert to beds, two shower spas with full-length mirror and vanity units, two stand-up bars and a lounge area. There are more than 1,100 channels of in-flight entertainment. Emirates has ordered 58 such planes from Airbus in Germany, so hopefully the business travelers will continue to dole out the big bucks for luxury air travel.

This flight signified the first regular scheduled service of the A380 aircraft into Canada and Toronto Pearson is thrilled to be its first destination. Emirates will offer this Toronto - Dubai service three times per week - on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Emirates Airbus A380  is truly Super Jumbo Jet  but you better save up your loonies if you're making a trip to the middle east. A first-class Toronto-Dubai return ticket sells for $10,000,

With a fuel efficiency of less than three litres per 100 kilometers per passenger, the A380 is one of the most efficient passenger aircraft in service today.

The GTAA spent ten years rebuilding and redeveloping Toronto Pearson. It has been rebuilt with the knowledge that larger aircraft such as the A380 would come to Toronto. The forward thinking that went into the airport redevelopment now is paying off for passengers in the GTA in the form of additional flight capacity on Emirates' busy Toronto-Dubai route.
